Shalom Family,
Thanks for accepting the call to corporately study and share. We will be doing one chapter a day. I encourage as many as can, to read, study, meditate and share a thought/s from your devotion.
May the Lord bless our devotions.
Key Verse: Proverbs 1:7
The [reverent] fear of the LORD [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; But arrogant fools despise [skillful and godly] wisdom and instruction and self-discipline.
Proverbs 19

Overview
Verses: 29
Theme: Wise Sayings
Highlights
✅ Verse 6 I am in alumni group on a WhatsApp group. Among the alumni are nobles such as justices, judges, professors, former top ranked military people, sitting governors, CEOs, etc. One of the things is that whenever such share, even those who had never shared an emoji on the group suddenly find the literacy to share and respond to the noble 🤭😁.
There is a natural tendency to entreat the favor of the noble.
If we are to honestly review how we interact on social media, you will realize that we are selective in who we respond to. And only few (if not none) are left out in entreating the favor of the nobles.
The same verse also talks about the fact that every man is a friend to one who gives gifts! Na hapo tuko wengi. Sadly, it begins from home. With our parents and siblings! Again, tusichome saaana!
✅ Verse 14 Perfect and good gifts come from the Lord – riches, inheritance, and a prudent wife. The world has managed to define what is good and bad; has managed to make things that mirror what is good and perfect. Mostly external. But what is from God will always possess an internal and eternal value only comprehensible to the one walking in the spirit and in the fear of God. May we abide in him so that our definition of good and perfect can be true.
✅ Verse 17 Compassion for the poor is a great virtue.
✅ Verse 24 There are levels in laziness🤭. Imagine putting your hand in the cookie jar and not being able to bring the cookie to your mouth.🤷♂️🙈. Nothing should make us live in laziness. We should abhor laziness.
✅ Verse 26 There is one thing I have observed in our generation. We are quick to “bless” religious or spiritual leaders but slow or completely ignore to take care of our parents. It doesn’t matter how other people commend you, if you are not kind, generous, honorable, etc to your parents, you don’t need a curse for your life to go south. It doesn’t matter which prophet, apostle etc lays hands, legs, etc and cast demons out of you, that demon of disregard for parents will always wreck havoc.
May we have an very honest review of our relationships with our parents today and repent as needful. And for those who have done well, keep at it.

[10:12 AM, 5/20/2020] Moureen: proverbs 19
- You will have many friends if you are doing well in life but not necessarily because they love you but what they get or could get from you. And some to associate with you enhances their image.
- One man can show both favor and wrath in equal measure. It depends what you pull out.
- Matters marriage, only God can lead and give you the best.
- Nothing goes unnoticed in the eyes of God ( he who shows the poor pity, God will pay back)
Obed Pastor: 🤣 🤣..
Good resolve.
There is a "cry for revival" sweeping across the Christian faith. But one thing I know is that the devil is a master at pointing to "grave" repent issues but blinding people on basic living..
So honoring parents is a blind spot for many but repenting of "blood shed" becomes a grave issue. We even do caravans and move around cities, counties etc even though we have left home having abused our parents, slapped our spouse, led our children to wrath etc.. 🙏 🙏..
May God help us to fix the basics.. 🙏
