Shalom Family,
Thanks for accepting the call to corporately study and share. We will be doing one chapter a day. I encourage as many as can, to read, study, meditate and share a thought/s from your devotion.
May the Lord bless our devotions.
Key Verse: Proverbs 1:7
The [reverent] fear of the LORD [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; But arrogant fools despise [skillful and godly] wisdom and instruction and self-discipline.
Proverbs 12

Overview
✳️ Verses: 28
✳️ Theme: More Wise Sayings
This chapter continues with more wise sayings. But I picked a few distinct lessons from the chapter. I picked out certain adjectives or qualifiers that bring out a distinction in our walk of faith.
Ps. An adjective qualifies or intensifies the quality of a thing by either increasing or decreasing its value. As you live out your life, you either increasing or decreasing in measure. 🤷♂️🤔. . In essence "YOU ARE BECOMING" ..
Examples of Adjectives/Qualifiers
❇️ Verse 2 - A good man
❇️ Verse 4 - An Excellent Wife
❇️ Verse 10 - A righteous man
❇️ Verses 16&23 - A prudent man
❇️ Verses 24&27 - A lazy man
These are limited to two versions I have used. Find others that are neither suffixes or prefixes to a person (man. woman, wife, husband etc). E.g. Upright in Verse 6 (NIV).
Baraka tele.
Commentaries
Ciruu Kiniti: Proverbs 12
-No one can be established (I looked up the word establish "set up on a firm or permanent basis" or exist) through wickedness. This has placed things in perspective even picking up from yesterday's lessons. When I imagine that I can pull a kashady deal to set me up, imagine I cant be established on such roots.
But if I am righteous my root shall never be moved.
-There is no profit/gain in the house of the wicked. I think for me I draw some sort of comfort in this. Especially when I see how wicked some leaders are and how they appear to be all together. I know as a Christian I shouldn't rejoice in others calamities but guess what si mimi nimesema..
For the wicked hakuna profit.
V15 posed a personal challenge to me. This is an area I've been working on for ages. I am the person of my way or the highway. 🙈🙈. But let me give myself a bit of credit I have tried kidogo. I can be as stubborn as a mule especially on things I think I am right...but see what the passage says today: "... he who listens to counsel is wise."
Oh that I may learn to be quick to listen and slow to speak.
Obed Pastor: Amen. . Your candour is always refreshing. . As @Joyce obed complimented jana, you challenge us!

Proverbs 12:3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 21, 28 NIV
The righteousness are:
Grounded, stand firm and endure
Just
Caring and kind

Seeking to walk with Christ who is my righteousness ensures that I have these traits. All I have to do is be obedient
Chwai on Proverbs 12
“Good people obtain favor from the Lord, but he condemns those who devise wicked schemes.”
Proverbs 12:2
This caught my attention. Who are these good people? Considering Jesus somewhere said no one is good except God.
What traits would should one have to be considered good?
In Verse 9 of Chapter 12 says it’s better to be a Nobody
Nobody according to Google-person of no importance or authority.
How does one attain this especially in today’s setting where competition is the order of the day. Trying to get ahead at work, in the neighborhood...(guilty of this 😞)
Obed Pastor: Good questions @chiwaiboy.. 🙏
Ciruu Kiniti: My opinion (like my own 😆) is that it is not advocating for you to be a nobody per se. But it in contrast it would be better to be a nobody than to try be someone who places "honor on himself" and lack bread. Yaani nikieleza in my Kenyanesim hakuna haja ya kujiweka juu ukose provision ama basics juu niko juu sana ata watu hawaezi imagine I am in lack.... Karibu niongee kikuyu.
